What is a Girl to do? Part 1 - What Does He Need To Be?
This is a series I will be doing for the next week or two about girl-boy relationships.
I will start with
What kind of man should I seek?
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family and see that his children obey him with proper respect.
He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devils trap.
1 Timothy 3:2-4, 7
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.
Ephesians 5:25-31
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
1 Peter 3:7
After looking at theses verses you may know notice that God doesn't want it to be "Hey, your cute, lets get married." God seems to wants us girls to find the right guy. He has even told us what to look for. Do you think God would give us and overview of what kind of person we should marry if it didn't matter? I don't think so. It's obvious to me that God wants us to take this relationship thing pretty seriously. Sure, you can say that you'll marry a man with blond hair and green eyes and stands 6 feet tall, but what if that's not what God had in mind? What if you meet a man who is bald, and only 5 feet tall, but has everything that 1 Timothy 3: 2 says? Are you willing to give up handsome for Godly?
Is this young man a Christian, will he follow God at all costs? Is this boy going to help you grow stronger in faith and love, will he be able to be a rock to lean on in times of trouble? Will this knight be temperate, selfless, respectable, hospitable, and gentle at all times? Those are some questions you should ask yourself.
Well, there's the first part. Next time we I will write about what we(us girls) need to be.
Excellent! Amen :)
