Teenagers Can Have Fun Too...

Hmm. You must be thinking after seeing that picture "What on earth...?"
Here's the story -
Rain. It was all I could see. Pouring, rain. I sat on the back porch with my Jack Russell and watched as the rain ran off the roof and made a small stream along the back of the house. The small stream ended in a puddle by the back door. It was very clear water, and since here in Florida dirt is replaced with sand, it looked like the beach. I put Jack's leash on him and opened the back door. My brother sat in a folding chair inside the porch, playing with some little do-hikky.
I hooked Jack up and sat under the outside part of the porch, still under the roof. I ran my finger through the puddle, and watched as my finger made ripples run through the crystal clear pool. I looked over and saw that my brothers still hadn't filled the hole that they dug a couple of days ago. I started taking some of the loose sand out of the bottom of the clear puddle, and put it into the hole. I kept doing this and realized I was making a hole myself my filling in my brothers hole. That would get me nowhere. I went down a little further, now in the mini stream, and took some dirt from there. My hands were now somewhat dirty, but were easily cleaned my putting them into the puddle. I called my brother out to mess around with me, and after much persuading he joined me. Now we weren't filling holes, we were just making a mess. I was still pretty clean. I had some dirt on my hands, and part way up my arms, but my pants were clean and all that. Then it happened. I was sitting next to the puddle, and I reached over to grab a stick, and I lost my balance and fell over. Right into the pile of mud I had made. It still wasn't that bad, it was mostly on my behind anyway. But, while trying sit up without slipping again, my lovely Jack decided it was time to dig, and send the dirt right at me. Now I was dirty. Very, dirty. The picture above does not justify how dirty I am, because you can not see 1 side and my back. I decided right then and there that I was not going to try to stay neat. I even threw a lump of mud at my brother, and then used the excuse that I was trying to toss it into the puddle. I don't think he believed me, nobody ever does. I "played in the mud" for another ten minutes and then I was done. You should have seen my dog. He was dirt from the nose down. Dirty, and very cute. I put him in the shower with me, which he didn't like, and washed him 3 times(it took that many times to get the dirt off of him).
Now if you think about it, how many 14 year olds do you know that would play in the mud? 1, 2? Would you? Why is it that you hit a certain age, and that age means that you can't have fun any more? It's funny that people may laugh when they see a 14 year old playing in the mud like a little kid. But hey, the Bible says "...and become like the little children, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Perhaps Jesus didn't have playing in the mud in mind, but I really do think that we need to be more like them. Don't kids seem happy? If a child is under the age of 10, he smiles more then he frowns. But golly, if your over the age of 13 you have to be Mister/Misses serious. It's like you hit a "No fun" age. If that's the problem, let's just get rid of the age factor. Who needs it anyway? All it seems to do is add more troubles in the world, and less fun. Let's just become like the little children, and be done with it.
