An Embarrassing Story
My mom and I where talking about what to write. She said to write about something funny or embarrassing. I thought about it and said, “I don’t want to write about something embarrassing”. She said that being able to laugh at yourself makes you an easier person to be around causing people to want to be around you more. So I agreed, reluctantly.
The following took place between 7:30 and 8:00, on a Thursday evening.
I was at band practice with my father, who plays the drums in the church band. A 3 year old girl named Sara wanted me to play with her. While her dad did the sound for the band I hung out with her. Then, she asked me to pretend to be a dog. I said okay and did what she wanted. She went upstairs to ask her dad something and I followed her. Her dad saw me crawling on the floor and slightly embarrassed, I stood up and said, “Kids like me to play dog with them”.
“Oh”, he said. “What is your name?” He asked.
I replied, “Well, usually they just call me puppy”.
“No, what is your real name?” he asked again
Smack! “Uh, Kaitlyn”, I said as I turned bright red. It was the most embarrassing thing I had ever done.
I look back and it’s funny. Our family is now really good friends with his family. I still play with their daughter but I will never pretend that I am a dog again.
Ever.
