A Bible's View on Love

How many of you have heard of " The Fruit of the Spirit"? I think I was about 9 when I learned it, but I not only learned it, I memorized it. Here it is.

Galatians 5:22

The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

I never really thought about it, all I thought was, "oh, I memorized it, so I get candy".
You may notice that the first is love. Now think about this... Love is patient, love is faithful, with it you have joy, self-control, kindness, goodness, and gentleness. But, just because you have love does not mean that every morning you wake up and your happy and full of joy and life is perfect. You will still have hard times and life will not be perfect, but love is the root of all these things.

Here is 1 Corinthians 13 4-8
Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn't jealous. It doesn't sing its own praises. It isn't arrogant. It isn't rude. It doesn't think about itself. It isn't irritable. It doesn't keep track of wrongs. It isn't happy when injustice is done, but it is happy with the truth. Love never stops being patient, never stops believing, never stops hoping, never gives up.
Love never comes to an end.

See how it has many of the Fruits in this one verse. Peace - it isn't happy when injustice is done. Patience and Self-control - it is and never will stop being patient. Faith - it never stops believing. Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness- it isn't rude; it is kind.

I never really saw it as something like that. I never put two and two together. Love is what we should try to live for, it is perfect. God is love, pure love. He does not easily anger, He is patient, He is kind, He is unhappy when injustice is done.

He wrote those verses to remind us of this - If our goal in life is to try to try our best to be like God, then we should try to love as He loves us, His love is perfect.
